DAY Birger et Mikkelsen Spring Summer 2011 Campaign

Et si Ulysse, après avoir échoué sur l'île de Schérie, avait décidé d'y rester au lieu de repartir pour Ithaque, et de goûter auprès de Nausicaa un repos anticipé... ?
Allongés sur la grève, ils reposeraient ainsi, étendus sur ces draps et ces coussins dont les tonalités marines et désertiques prolongent leurs propres vêtements.

And if Ulysses, after being washed ashore on the Scheria island, had decided to stay there, not to go back to Ithaca, and enjoy by Nausicaa an earlier peace ?
Lying down on the shore, they would rest this way, stretched out on these sheets and pillows whose navy and desert tones are the echo of their own clothes.

Les matières - coton, lin, sisal -, les imprimés - bayadères, vichys et carreaux - évoquent ce décor naturel devenu havre, où l'on peut enfin s'abandonner et se fondre.

The fabrics – cotton, linen, sisal -, the prints – bayaderes, ginghams and checks – conjure up this natural setting which has become a haven and where it is finally possible to let oneself go and to blend into.

Une certaine nonchalance règne ici, dans ces vêtements légers, parfois froissés, dont les manches relevées, les poignets et les cols largement ouverts permettent l'aisance des mouvements.

There is a certain nonchalance here, in these light clothes, sometimes crumpled, whose rolled-up sleeves, wide opened cuffs and necks allow easy movements.

Mais cette nonchalance pourrait cependant n'être que provisoire, car elle s'allie à une allure également déterminée : peut-être Ulysse, homme d'action avant tout, se prépare-t-il aussi à repartir, prêt, de nouveau, à affronter les dieux.

But this nonchalance could however only be temporary, as it goes with an equally determined attitude : maybe Ulysses, a man of action above all, is about to set off again, ready, once again, to brave the gods.
